🍜 The Legendary Spot Where I First Fell for the Awesomeness of Ramen 🍜<\/span><\/p>\n \n\n \n

The legendary shop that launched my ramen obsession! After spending four years at Higashiikebukuro Taishoken, this legendary master honed his skills at famous tsukemen (dipping noodle) shops like Rokusansha and Tsugitoen. Including the time when he ran the shop under the name Jinto, this year marks 14 years at this location, solidifying his veteran status. I’d say I started eating more ramen than the average person about five years ago. There are a few shops that were turning points for me, but if you ask me about the place that gave me my first taste of ramen and tsukemen heaven, this would be it. It opened when I was in high school, and somehow I found out about it. The first time I ate here, I was blown away by how amazing ramen and tsukemen could be! It became my go-to spot for a celebratory lunch (like an office lady, haha). Even though I didn’t pay much attention to TRY magazine’s rankings, it makes me happy to see that a shop I instinctively knew was great has remained popular. Whenever I go home to visit my parents, I try to come here, but it’s become so popular that there’s always a long line. And lately, I haven’t been able to go home much, but I finally made it back and couldn’t wait to visit. It was New Year’s Day, and I arrived 45 minutes before opening, thinking I wouldn’t have a chance. But to my surprise, I was first in line! The line kept getting longer, and I even spotted a high school classmate, which made me laugh. Every time I come here, I order the tsukemen, and every time I think, “Next time, I’ll get the ramen.” But then I end up spacing it out, and I always end up ordering the tsukemen. In the end, the best thing is always what’s delicious, right? The shop opened right on time at 11:00 AM. After a short wait, my order arrived. It had the classic messy presentation of the Higashiikebukuro lineage, but that’s part of its charm. The tsukemen dipping sauce was a classic pork bone and seafood blend, served in a medium-thick consistency. It may not be the trendiest, but despite its lower viscosity, it was packed with umami. And the homemade thick noodles had a wonderful, comforting wheat flavor. They were chewy and springy, making me really feel like I was eating noodles. It’s a testament to how great this place is that I still find it delicious, both now and back when I first tried it. Even the standard amount of ch\u0101sh\u016b pork is generous, but getting the half-portion extra really made it more satisfying. The lean meat and springy fat are a timeless combination. Despite the generous portion, I found myself slurping up the noodles in no time. I finished the dipping sauce with a bit of soup\u5272\u308a (warishita broth), which I think had a hint of seafood and yuzu citrus. I wonder when I’ll be able to come back again. As I left the shop, I thought to myself, “Next time, I’ll definitely get the ch\u016bka soba (Chinese-style ramen).”<\/span><\/p>\n \n\n \n
